Two head directors of the Santa Rosa Residence Hall have left their positions, forcing the Office of Residential Life to seek replacements after one week of school.

According to an e-mail obtained by the Daily Nexus, Resident Director (RD) Jose Garcia and Assistant Resident Director (ARD) Kristin Jordan have resigned. Officials from Residential Life declined to comment on the situation, citing confidentiality in personnel matters. Officials also declined to comment on when replacements for the vacant positions would be found.

“With the contingency plans that we have made, we believe that we have all bases covered for a smooth transition,” wrote Robert Donerson, assistant director of Residential Life, in the e-mail he sent Friday. “At some point, we may request additional assistance, however at this time, we have things well in hand.”

The RD and ARD in each residence hall are in charge of security, contract cancellations and judicial reviews for students who violate residence hall rules as well as other responsibilities related to residential life, the resident handbook states.

In an interview Monday afternoon, Donerson said there will be “a change in RD and ARD staff, per university guidelines,” but declined further comment.

As of Monday night, students living in Santa Rosa Hall had not been officially informed of the vacancies in their hall’s staff, said Michelle Lerner, a first-year Santa Rosa Hall resident.

“I wasn’t informed, and I’m a hall representative, so I should know,” Lerner said.
