The UCSB roller hockey team clenched the first spot in the B Division of Division I at the Western Collegiate Roller Hockey League (WCRHL) Tournament in Marina, Calif., this weekend.

“We did really well, playing tough games against tough teams,” sophomore forward CJ Trombley said.

Marking the beginning of larger competitions for the team, this tournament served as a season finale, with both Blue and Gold B-teams coming home 3-1 in the tourney. The four games brought the Gauchos into the regional competition with an overall and league record of 11-4-1 placing the UCSB Gold B-team not only in the first seed of its division, but also at #14 in the nation.

“This is the first time since I have been here that our team has gone home with a first in our division,”
