As a member of the Campus Democrats, I was actually pleased to read the piece by Justin Violini (“Left-Wing Smackdown,” Daily Nexus, Oct. 26). I agree that the conservatives around campus should speak up about what they think. I am a political science major myself, and I find it very disheartening that I have no one to debate politics with, as no one will oppose the majority. The silence of our supposed conservatives on campus give the rest of us Democrats a false utopian feeling that we are the only ones around, but unfortunately, we are not. Oh wait, I think I’ve got it: Maybe all Republicans are bad linguists, and that’s why they don’t speak up. Well, I can finally rest in peace knowing one of the great myths of our society. Thanks to the Nexus, I’ll sleep well tonight.
