Candidates for the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors are in the midst of the second filing period for candidacy declarations, fees and petitions.

The filing deadlines for the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors election are proceeding apace.

The period for candidates to gather signatures in order to forgo the $769 filing fee began Sept. 26 and will end Nov. 20. County Assessor Joe Holland said each signature counts for 25 cents toward the filing fee. Candidates must collect 3,076 signatures to forgo the filing fee.

During the nomination period from Nov. 10 to Dec. 5, candidates must file their declarations of candidacy with the county elections office as well as circulate and file nomination petitions.

The final filing period is Dec. 1 through Dec. 5. Holland said this is the supplemental filing period for candidates to petition in lieu of filing fees.
