Editor, Daily Nexus,

I am an out-of-state student attending UCSB. Regarding Bert Viloria’s brilliant suggestion of screwing over the out-of-state students (“Don’t Take Budget Woes Out on In-State Students,” Daily Nexus, May 23, 2003), I would like to point out that although we comprise only 6 percent of the school’s population, we provide almost one-fifth of the funds coming from tuition. If the administration were to regard my presence at this school in the same manner Viloria does, then there’s no chance in hell I would be here.

I am paying for a quality education, not to be treated as a damned money tree. Basically, you could kill our out-of-state asses goodbye and watch your own tuition go up another $800 from our mere absence.
