The Isla Vista Project Area Committee will be meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Linda Vista room at Francisco Torres to begin discussion of the PAC interim draft, the most up-to-date version of the plan to redevelop I.V.

Tonight’s meeting, the first in a monthlong series that will review the interim draft, will provide an overview of the entire document as well as discussion of the plan’s housing implications. I.V. planning project manager Jamie Goldstein said the meeting is an opportunity for UCSB students and I.V. residents to affect the future of the area.

“Students can become a part of the long-term plan [at the meeting],” Goldstein said. “By getting involved now, the plan is far more likely to take on a life that will better suit students than if students got involved in the later stages.”

The I.V. Master Plan is supposed to reshape various aspects of the I.V. community, including housing, parking and transportation.

Goldstein also said a housing panel at tonight’s meeting will be composed of people involved in the housing market, including builders, designers, affordable housing specialists and zoning experts.
