Editor, Daily Nexus:

I was completely bothered by Yesenia and Shantel’s article about the discrimination they faced at AppeThai (“Funny, We Didn’t Order AppeThai’s Discrimination Platter,” Daily Nexus, Feb. 26).

AppeThai is one of my favorite restaurants in Goleta, not because of the great service that they have there, but because the food is good. I can’t argue against Yesenia and Shantel’s feelings, but quite honestly every time I go to AppeThai the service is bad. I don’t think it has anything to do with my race (Asian American) or my friend’s race (Mexican American and Colombian).

There are some restaurants that you go to because the service is good and the atmosphere is grand, and then others are liked for what they are – hole-in-the-wall, family run businesses. If you don’t like it, you don’t go. It’s as simple as that.

I personally think boycotting AppeThai is a bad idea and I’ll continue to enjoy meals there because I take that restaurant for what it is: good food (“We Must Boycott AppeThai To Protest Its Discrimination,” Daily Nexus, Feb. 28).

I do apologize to Yesenia and Shantel for the discrimination they have felt in Santa Barbara, but I hope they don’t take it too personally because it really doesn’t have anything to do with them.

Best wishes to everyone.
