Three UCSB men’s volleyball players were arrested Nov. 19 for possession of stolen property.

Alexander Lienert, Daniel Terry and Jeffery Minc were arrested after a victim reportedly saw his bicycle locked outside their 6800-block Trigo Road apartment. Isla Vista Foot Patrol Lt. Russ Birchim said deputies obtained a search warrant and found numerous other stolen bicycles in the apartment when they investigated on Nov. 19.

While the allegations are under investigation the three players have been suspended from the volleyball team, men’s volleyball coach Ken Preston said.

“They’ve been suspended until their innocence has been proven. I’m assuming they’re innocent until proven guilty. Right now they’ve been suspended from the team for an indefinite period,” Preston said. “All three of them have been in the program for awhile. All three of them are talented players and are in the top 15 in the squad. It adversely affects the quality of our team when they’re suspended.”

The three suspects were released from custody based on a promise to appear in court.
