Editor, Daily Nexus,

I’ve heard variations on “America – love it or leave it” far too often recently. It’s amazing that people can claim to be patriotic and simultaneously be so ignorant of the values for which our country stands. We are not given representation in the government to just wave flags and cheer at every move Congress makes. One of the most treasured American ideals is freedom of speech and expression, and consequently toleration of unpopular ideas. If you don’t like what you see chalked on the sidewalk, perhaps you should think about why it bothers you so much. Write a rebuttal, but don’t complain about others expressing their political views. You’d be putting that precious breath to better use explaining exactly why you support dropping bombs that kill defenseless civilians.
