A male suspect attempted to force a woman into his car on Hollister Avenue on Tuesday morning.

At approximately 10 a.m., a white, four-door sedan pulled up next to the woman, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Dept. Lt. Jim Dollar said. The woman told Sheriff’s deputies that the male driver asked her if she needed a ride. When she refused, he got out and attempted to push her into his car.

The Sheriff’s Dept. describes the encounter as an attempted kidnapping, and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division are currently investigating the case. Despite the fact that the woman was approached in daylight, no witnesses have come forward, Dollar said.

The woman suffered no injuries and was able to provide a description for a composite sketch of the suspect, Dollar said. She described the suspect as a Hispanic male in his early 30s, approximately 5’10”, with a light complexion, thin build, short dark hair and wearing a light colored T-shirt.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s office at 681-4250.
