Four automobile burglaries in which suspects broke into different Hondas through the driver-side door and stole stereo equipment were reported to have occurred between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Isla Vista Foot Patrol deputies responded to two calls on Saturday. One of the victims, a 25-year-old resident of Fortuna Road, reported a Sony car stereo/CD player, 24 compact discs and a small oil lamp missing. She told police she had parked her car in front of her house the evening before and noticed the items missing the next day. Police said the suspect appeared to have pried the driver-side window off of its track and unlocked the door.

The second victim, an 18-year-old male, parked his Honda on El Colegio Road on Friday. He told IVFP officers he discovered his car stereo, 12-inch subwoofer and 45 compact discs missing on Saturday. Officers said the burglar inactivated the car’s alarm system in the hood of the car.

The UC Police Dept. also responded to two reports of automobile burglaries on Saturday – one at Family Student Housing’s Storke Apartments, located off Los Carneros Road, and one at Family Student Housing’s West Campus Apartments, located off Storke Road. UCPD Captain Mike Foster said stereos were stolen from both cars.

Both the IVFP and UCPD will conduct investigations and then compare notes, Foster said. In all four cases, officers performed crime scene investigations.

Anyone with information regarding these or other burglaries can contact the IVFP at 681-4179 or the UCPD at 893-3446.
