Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies arrested stabbing suspect Juan Becerra Wednesday at 5:45 p.m.

Victim Mariano Nunes contacted the Sheriff’s Dept. and informed them that the suspect was picking up his payroll check at Cicileo Landscaping, where both the victim and the suspect are employed.

The suspect was wanted in relation to a stabbing incident that occurred on Saturday, Sept. 22 in which 25-year-old Nunes had been stabbed twice, once in the neck and once in the chest.

A witness, 33-year-old Ismael Nava, informed deputies that the victim and the suspect had been arguing in their house on Phelps Road when the stabbing occurred. Becerra fled the house before the police arrived.

Becerra, 22 years old, was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on a single count of assault with a deadly weapon.
