An unidentified male offered a ride to an 8-year-old boy waiting for his mother in front of Robertson Gym on Tuesday.

At approximately 7:25 p.m., the boy was waiting outside Rob Gym when a man in a black convertible with flames painted on the side and California license plates drove up and offered him a ride. When the boy said he was waiting for his mother, the driver again asked if he wanted a ride. The boy’s mother came shortly thereafter and took him to the police station to report the incident.

Police Chief Michael Foster said the department is not necessarily looking to press charges, but would like to question the driver.

“As of right now, we don’t have a crime,” Foster said. “We would just like to identify the driver so that we can ask him what he was doing talking to this kid.”

The driver was identified as a clean-shaven white male in his early 20s with spiked black hair, wearing a red T-shirt with orange flames printed on it and blue shorts.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the driver should contact Sgt. Suzanne Malloy at 893-3446.
