A UCSB student who claimed she had been attacked in a parking lot admitted to University of California Police Dept. on Wednesday that she made up the report for personal reasons.
The student said a man assaulted her with a knife in Lot 38 at 1:30 a.m., according to a police report on Wednesday. However, on Thursday, UCPD released a second press release, which said, after follow-up investigations, that the student had fabricated the report.
The police referred the false report to the District Attorney’s Office and UCSB administration for review.
