I.V. Open Market

Looking for new clothes, art and homeware for the school year without breaking the bank? On Saturday, Sept. 28, the office of the A.S. External Vice President of Local Affairs will be sponsoring yet another Isla Vista Open Market in Little Acorn Park (across from 7-Eleven). Taking place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., this I.V. favorite will have booths offering recycled and vintage clothing, jewelry, pottery, prints, plants and more!

When Goleta Gives You Lemons

Going strong for the 28th consecutive year is Goleta’s claim to fame — its iconic California Lemon Festival. On Sept. 28 and 29, lemon fans can flock to Girsh Park for live music, pie-eating contests and lemon food and drink of all varieties. From lemon IPAs and ales to lemon cakes and cotton candy, there is no shortage of food and fun.

Welcome Back Gauchos!

Start off the year with a bang(er) Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. with A.S. Program Board’s annual Welcome Back Concert in Storke Plaza. Featuring up-and-coming rapper YBN Nahmir and special guest Vincent, the concert is free for all UCSB students with valid Access Cards. YBN Nahmir is known for his work on “Bounce Out With That,” “Fuck It Up (feat. City Girls, Tyga)” and “New Drip (Feat. Gucci Mane).” The 19-year-old Birmingham, Alabama native is also an alumnus of the career-making XXL Freshman Class list in 2018.

Cook a Free Meal for the Community!

Sometimes having a good day means helping others enjoy theirs too. You’ll have the opportunity to do just that this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. with Cook a Free Meal for the Community hosted by Food Not Bombs. Located at 777 Camino Pescadero, the organization strives to connect community members together to help feed those who need food the most. No sign-in means no excuses — all you need to do is show up!

Laugh it Off!

Improvability, Isla Vista’s go-to outlet for all your comedy-related needs, is hosting its first comedy event of the year this Friday at Embarcadero Hall. Give your diaphragm the long-awaited workout it needs and stop by anytime from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $3 the door, and, if you’re feeling committed to the world of college comedy, season tickets are available for $15. You’d much rather have your friends laugh with you than at you, so bring them along to Improvability for a night of chuckles and fun!
