The UCSB Red Cross Club is hosting its annual dodgeball tournament at 6 p.m. tomorrow in the Recreation Center’s Multi-Activity Center to raise funds for global disaster relief efforts.

The event will feature teams of six to eight competitors in a bracket-style tournament competing to earn prizes and contribute to the charity. The club will donate all registration fee funds and donations to the American Red Cross’ local chapter.

Red Cross Club member Connor Kampff, a third-year economics and communication major, said the tournament is an important philanthropic tradition.

“We haven’t had a disaster on a global scale this year, thankfully, so we haven’t chosen a relief effort yet,” Kampff said. “We still wanted to have [the tournament] this year because it’s one of the traditions of the club.”

Over 10 teams participated in last year’s tournament and in 2009, the club earned recognition as the South County Honor Club after 30 teams competed to raise money for Malaria No More.

The entrance fee is $7 for UCSB students with ID and $12 for non-UCSB students. More information can be found at the event’s Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/events/358603054153692/.
