Sheriff’s Dept. narcotics officers arrested 26-year-old Gabriel Newman on Wednesday after they found two pounds of marijuana at his Isla Vista residence.

Isla Vista Foot Patrol Lt. Russ Birchim said officers seized the “high-grade” marijuana – which has an estimated street value of $15,000 – after serving a search warrant to Newman at his home on the 6700 block of El Colegio Road.

Newman, a UCSB student, was arrested for possession of marijuana for sale. He is being held at Santa Barbara County Jail on $50,000 bail.

“The warrant capped a month-long investigation into the distribution of high-grade marijuana in the Isla Vista community,” Sheriff’s Lt. Bill Byrne said.
