UCPD apprehended a man Wednesday afternoon after a car pursuit and a foot pursuit that ended on campus.

The suspect, Erasmo Zapienybarra, had over $40,000 in outstanding warrants and was driving a stolen truck from the Lompoc area. Officers had received information that Zapienybarra had been spotted on campus and attempted to pull him over in front of the RecCen.

Officers pursued Zapienybarra into the Facilities Management parking lot where Zapienybarra left his vehicle and ran into a nearby building.

After a short search officers arrested Zapienybarra for felony evading, felony vehicle theft, resisting arrest and custody. UCPD Detective Bill Van said Zapienybarra had run into a man when he had attempted to flee into the building.

The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail.
