I love fried chicken, but I’ve never liked how greasy it was. All that oil has always put me into a food coma. Luckily, I have an air fryer at home, and with this easy recipe, I’m able to make my own fried chicken wings without having to deep-fry them. This recipe only calls for a few simple ingredients that I already had at home, and the sauce is totally customizable.

Directions:

  1. Pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel. Place them in a large bowl and coat all the chicken wings evenly with salt, pepper and baking powder.
  2. Place half of the wings into the air fryer for 12 minutes at 375 degrees on each side. Fry them again for 5 minutes at 400 degrees until the skin is extra crispy.
  3. While the chicken wings are air frying, make the garlic-soy glaze by melting the butter over medium-low heat.
  4. Add the garlic and cook it until fragrant.
  5. Add the honey and soy sauce and let the mixture simmer until it thickens.
  6. Take the cooked chicken wings and coat them in the sauce.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.

The only thing I would say is to be cautious of how much soy sauce you put into the sauce because the garlic already makes it pretty savory. If you’re scared that you’ll go overboard with the soy sauce, use low-sodium soy sauce to make sure it’s not too salty. Other than that, these chicken wings turned out great and served as a terrific appetizer for my lunch. I paired the wings with some Filipino spaghetti, and it was the perfect weekend meal!
