FOODBANK
The Santa Barbara County Foodbank hosts its monthly food distribution Thursday at Isla Vista Elementary School from 3:30-5:30 p.m. The event is part of the Healthy School Pantry Program, which works to address food insecurity amongst children and families in the community.

TOWN HALL
There will be an Isla Vista town hall from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday in the MultiCultural Center (MCC) lounge. Hosted by the Associated Students (A.S.) Office of the Student Advocate, the community meeting will provide a space for students to discuss Halloween, safety, housing and food security in Isla Vista. Organizers will provide free food to those who attend.

WHAT’S COOKING?
The Isla Vista Food Co-op is hosting a workshop Friday for instruction on how to make “quick, nutritious and affordable” meals. Starting at 4 p.m. on the Co-op patio (6575 Seville Rd.), general manager Melissa Cohen and UCen chef Mickael Blancho will share their experience making quick and easy meals under a budget. There will be food samples.

READY, SET, DASH
UCSB sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma hosts its annual “Kappa Dash” 5K marathon Saturday for charity benefit. Runners pay a registration fee of $12 to be donated to Reading is Fundamental, which provides free books to disadvantaged communities, and the Ovarian Cancer Circle, which supports women affected by ovarian cancer. Those interested must wear a costume and meet at 9 a.m. in Greek Park, where the race will begin.

FAMILY MATTERS
The MultiCultural Center will gather members from Black Resource Committee, Asian Pacific Islander Alliance, Luna and the American Indian Cultural Resource Center for a “We Are Family Multicultural Mixer” on Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the Student Resource Building Multipurpose Room. The reception hopes to celebrate the diversity of the UCSB community with attendance by campus administrators, staff and faculty.

VEGAN
A local group called Food Not Bombs will serve free vegan food at 5 p.m. Sunday in Little Acorn Park (next to Bagel Cafe). Those interested in cooking can email organizers at foodnotbombsislavista@gmail.com. This dinner is regularly held every Sunday.

DEMOCRACY AT WORK
Election Day is Tuesday! Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. There will be 10 different polling places to serve the 10 different precincts of UCSB and Isla Vista. Residents must vote at the polling place assigned to them; otherwise they will be given a provisional ballot (which is counted after all the regular ballots). Voters can find their assigned polling places on the Calif. Secretary of State website, www.sos.ca.gov/elections/polling-place.

MIDTERM GRIND
The Isla Vista Food Co-op will host a workshop Tuesday on “healthy study habits” from 3-5 p.m. on the Co-op patio. The workshop, in collaboration from the UCSB Health & Wellness Center and caffeine-free herbal coffee dealer Teeccino, will provide a snack demo and “healthy study resources.”

THE MORNING AFTER
The day after the General Election on Nov. 8, the Multicultural Center invites students to gather from 3:30-5 p.m for a discussion about the aftermath of the country’s most contentious election in recent years. The discussion will feature UCSB Feminist Studies Department Chair Eileen Boris, UCSB Asian American Studies Department Chair Lisa Sun-Hee Park, UCSB Black Studies Department Chair Vilna Bashi Treitler and UCSB Chican@ Studies Associate Professor Ralph Armbruster-Sandoval as moderator.
