The UCSB men’s golf team traveled to the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational Tournament hosted by the Hawaii Makai Golf Course in Princeville, Hawaii from November 4-6. The Gauchos entered the tournament as one of 18 competing universities and shot a combined score of 867, finishing 14th in the field.

This was not a strong performance for the Gauchos, who did not have a single player in the top 20 scorers. The Gauchos were tied for 16th place heading into the final round until senior Glen Scher and freshman Will Strauss both shot scores of 4-under-par (68) to boost the Gauchos into 14th place.

In their last tournament at the Bill Cullum Invitational in Simi Valley, CA, the Gauchos finished fourth out of 20 contenders, so this past week was a bit of a slump for the team.

The Gauchos shot 293 on day one, 291 on day two and 283 on day three. Overall, with the score of 867, the Gauchos shot a 3-over-par in the tournament.

Senior Jordan Epstein shot the best score for the Gauchos with a 1-over-par 217, to tie for 52nd place among the field.

This was the last fall tournament for the Gauchos this season, and they will head next to the Anteater Invitational, hosted by UC Irvine on January 27. The tournament will be held at the Mesa Verde Golf Course in Costa Mesa, CA.
