UCPD officers and Santa Barbara County Sherriff’s Department deputies responded to a reported stabbing incident last Saturday at 2:17 a.m. at a residence on the 6700 block of Trigo Road.

The altercation began inside the building and escalated into the driveway, where four individuals suffered injuries including stab wounds to one subject’s neck, another subject’s abdomen and a third subject’s hand. A fourth individual, who suffered minor injuries, was found minutes later leaving the scene.

Milad Mikeal, a second-year undeclared major and resident of the house, said the fight began as a verbal argument but turned violent once the individuals went outside.

“I had a bunch of people at my house for a small afterparty [and] there were some people arguing,” Mikeal said. “Next thing I know, they were swinging at each other.”

The scene was surreal display of violence that left two victims wandering back into the home as they bled from their injuries, Mikeal said, who added that two of the victims were trying to break up the fight.

“I was like, holy shit, this is happening right in front of my house,” Mikeal said.

SBCSD Sergeant Mark Williams said officials were first called to the scene at 2:15 a.m. when the fight was still in progress. Williams described the suspects, who left in an unknown direction, as an unknown number of adult Hispanic males.

The investigation has made little progress since witnesses and other individuals with information are currently not cooperating, Williams said.

“At this point, we don’t really have much new information because no one has been willing to come forward and tell us what we need to know,” Williams said.

Those with information regarding the incident are asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-877-800-9100.
