The Isla Vista Foot Patrol responded to two burglaries and several alcohol-related crimes during the weekend.

Undercover deputies observed a subject carrying a large decorative brass elephant Friday night on the 6500 block of Del Playa Drive. According to IVFP Lieutenant Ray Vuillemainroy, the deputies returned the stolen belonging to its original owners after confronting the subject.

“Upon contact and questioning, the suspect admitted to stealing the item from a residence on DP,” Vuillemainroy said. “The residents confirmed the item had been stolen from the residence, and the suspect was taken into custody.”

Additionally, officers received a report of a residential burglary that occurred between 3 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Sunday on the 6600 block of Picasso Road.

According to Vuillemainroy, the suspect entered the residency through an unlocked kitchen window.

“The suspect took a MacBook Pro worth $1,400 and a white iPad worth $600,” Vuillemainroy said.

IVFP also handled several alcohol-related crimes throughout the weekend, citing 10 people for noise ordinance violations, six people for open containers and three people for minors in possession. Officers arrested four people for public intoxication.
