Saint Patrick’s Day is a religious holiday celebrated internationally on March 17th in memory of Saint Patrick. It is also one of the biggest days of the year for alcohol consumption and one of the busiest days for clubs and bars worldwide. What better reason could we give you to head over to your favorite Irish Pub for some Guiness and other merry-making.
And don’t even think about driving because, well among other reasons, you don’t even have to. Strap your boots on, grab you ID and walk over to Isla Vista’s own Dublin’s Sports Grill. This pub opened on St. Patty’s day in 2002, so they will be celebrating their anniversary as well as the day of the Saints, making for a double whammy of a celebration.
This pub packs a heavy arsenal of whiskeys including Jack Danniels, Jameson, Makers Mark and for a special occasion, Crown Royal. They also offer great bar appetizers, and from noon until 6 p.m., you can get all you can eat Fish & Chips, Chicken Wings or Chicken Strips for only $6. And no, that’s not a joke. They offer three flavors of wings: spicy, barbecue and terryaki. The Fish & Chops were a delight on their own, with perfectly crispy fish made fresh by Deyette, the bartender. As if that wasn’t enough to entice you, for just another $6 dollars you can also get a pitcher of Bud during Happy Hour.
Dublin’s has a little bit of everything, for everyone. Eight televisions for the sports fanatics, two pool tables for the billiards connoisseurs, a Big Buck Safari arcade for the big game hunters, and a digital jukebox for the dancing queen in you. The venue is quite expansive, and offers large tables with benches, bar, and couch seating.
If you’re planning to drive after a drink or two you can breathalyze yourself at the alcohol checkpoint on your way out which is a nifty little device to keep us out of trouble.
Come St. Patty’s day, Dublin’s will be in full celebration. They will feature a delicious $5 Irish corn beef sandwich on the menu, which you can chase with a Guiness or a Carbomb (Irish whiskey, cream and Guiness). Come for the free t-shirts, party favors and Jameson on the rocks, and perhaps leave with a little pot of gold. If you’re lucky.
