The Goleta City Council may place a bid today on the privately owned Glen Annie Golf Course. The Club has already received and declined several bids of up to $7.2 million.

According to the council agenda, members will debate whether to spend the approximately $25,000 it would cost to hire consultants who could assess the profitability of purchasing the golf course. The current owners defaulted in 2010 and have since looked to sell the public, 18-hole course located on UCSB’s West Campus.

As of now, the current owners have turned down offers up to $7 million; however, the Council’s agenda states that a previous $7.2 million bid was almost successful.

Council members will also discuss banning plastic carryout bags from Goleta businesses. Members hope to eliminate waste, preserve resources and promote a more eco-friendly city.

According to the agenda, arguments from the opposition are expected for both items.
