The UCSB women’s water polo team saw mixed results this weekend, finishing in 11th place at the UCI Invitational. After losing to #3 UCLA, #14 Santa Barbara (8-7 overall) defeated SDSU in overtime on Saturday. Sunday proved to be a similar story as the Gauchos lost to Big West foe Northridge 10-6 before dominating tournament host Irvine.

Cal Poly Shocks Santa Barbara
All season long, the Gauchos have prided themselves in their ability to close out games. Unfortunately for UCSB on Saturday, an inability to make shots down the stretch and a crucial turnover in the final minute allowed rival Cal Poly to flip the script in front of over 3,000 fans at home, stealing one from the road team in a 60-57 heartbreaker.
