After splitting last weekend’s road games at UC Davis and Pacific, the UCSB women’s basketball team returns home today to host visiting Long Beach State, a team the Gauchos (5-10 overall, 2-1 in Big West) have not lost to since 2006 or dropped a home decision to since 1991. In their last meeting, Santa Barbara cruised to a 74-62 road win at the Pyramid, shooting 54% from the floor and 60% from long range.

With any other storied band, you might suspect that an overdose, a series of scandalous photos, an impending divorce or trouble with the law… But with Sonic Youth, it turns out lead guitarist Lee Ranaldo had sprained his wrist playing my mother’s favorite sport. How rock ‘n’ roll is that?

Santa Barbara Falls Short
The 14th ranked UCSB men’s volleyball team came up short in its quest for revenge Wednesday night, falling to number 9 Long Beach State in a hard fought match that took all five games to decide. Long Beach had previously beaten Santa Barbara on Jan. 7 in the second round of the Santa Barbara Invitational.
