The Isla Vista Foot Patrol responded to two sexual assaults, a medical emergency and an instance of residential burglary this weekend.

Deputy Freddy Padilla said a female UCSB student was sexually assaulted on Del Playa Drive between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday. The victim reported the attack Sunday morning, and Padilla said an investigation is underway.

“There was a report of a sexual assault Saturday night at an unknown residence on Del Playa,” Padilla said. “The detectives will be investigating the sexual assault to try and narrow down the time and location it occurred.”

A second sexual assault occurred in the bathroom of a business on Pardall Road around midnight Saturday.

“The victim was transported to the hospital where a sexual assault exam was completed,” Padilla said. “The suspect was known and was later contacted by deputies, and arrested and booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail.”

Officers also responded to the theft of two laptops over the weekend, one of which occurred at 1 p.m. Saturday on the 6700 block of El Colegio Road.

“The suspect entered through the kitchen window,” Padilla said. “It wasn’t closed so he cut the screen and entered into the house. The victim was right there sleeping on the couch.”

At 2 a.m. Saturday, deputies responded to a report of alcohol poisoning on the 800 block of Camino Pescadero. Padilla said a woman was found passed out in a bathtub and transported to Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital.

Local authorities faced another medical emergency when an Isla Vista resident was hit by a car while walking down Highway 101 in the early morning hours Friday.

Justin Skinner, 21, told the California Highway Patrol he missed his ride on Bill’s Bus and was attempting to walk from Santa Barbara to Isla Vista. Authorities say Skinner was inebriated at the time.

The driver of the car called 9-1-1 after hitting Skinner, who was alert and speaking after the accident, despite suffering significant trauma. Police do not expect charges will be filed against the driver.

A standard assortment of alcohol-related offenses also occurred over the weekend. Deputies issued 14 citations for minors in possession of alcohol, two for possession of open containers and arrested 11 people for public intoxication.
