Kappa Kappa Gamma won the seventh annual All Sorority Volleyball Tournament fundraiser this Saturday, ending Alpha Chi Omega’s three-year winning streak.
Alpha Tau Omega, with the help of Twiin Productions, hosted the event at the East Beach Volleyball Courts in downtown Santa Barbara. Approximately 4,000 people attended the tournament, which featured music, food, a beer garden and plenty of volleyball. All proceeds from ticket sales were donated to the Kidney Cancer Association.
According to Jimmy Kaiser, a second-year UCSB student and member of Alpha Tau Omega, the tournament is one of the largest fraternity charity efforts.
“This is the biggest event of the year,” Kaiser said. “It is philanthropy for ATO, we put a lot of money and effort into this. We are basically raising money for kidney cancer patients.”

According to Twiin Productions president Jeremy Pemberton, last year’s tournament raised $44,000, with this year’s sum expected to reach $50,000. Pemberton said Twiin Productions became involved in producing, managing and staffing the event four years ago when the tournament moved out of Isla Vista due to complaints of public disturbances and alcohol violations.
“We did not get involved until it came to the beach,” Pemberton said. “The city made a recommendation that we contact the fraternity hosting the event and help them organize the following year after it was moved out of Isla Vista.”
The tournament drew attendees from throughout the sate, with over thirty sororities participating from schools including UCLA, UC Davis and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Bill’s Bus provided free transportation between Greek Park and East Beach all day.
Connor Delman, a second-year UCLA student, said this was his second year coming to Santa Barbara for the tournament and beach party.
“I heard about this through all my friends,” Delman said. “I am in a frat so everyone comes down here for this. We just expected a bunch of people having a good time, chilling on the beach and hitting on the sororities.”
