The summer before I moved to UCSB I was given a surfboard. The nose was split open and it was riddled with dings, but I eventually glued it back together and swore to learn how to surf better. Senior midfielder Katie Moran of the UCSB women’s lacrosse club team should be used to receiving awards by now. As a freshman in the 2006 season, she was named the team’s Rookie of the Year. She followed that up as a sophomore by being named to the All-League First Team. As a junior, she was named captain for the Gauchos and received her first All-American selection. This season, the recognitions kept rolling in.
