Saturday the UCSB men’s club lacrosse team ran conference whipping USC right out of Isla Vista with a 13-6 rout. The Gauchos (1-0 overall, 1-0 Southwestern Lacrosse Conference) scoffed at an early couplet of goals from the Trojans (1-2, 0-1) to burst out with an offensive onslaught that saw four Santa Barbara players score at least a pair. Senior attack Brendan Sindell said that while UCSB played well, they have a lot of room for improvement.

East vs. West:
East:
Unlike the West, the East has several players ready to show their stuff as first-time selections. Danny Granger, Devin Harris and Mo Williams should all go huge popping their All-Star cherries, and I have no doubt that LeBron will take down game MVP honors as a prelude to his forthcoming 2008-09 MVP award.
West:
With a bunch of ungodly rich and wildly famous young men getting a weekend off in Phoenix, do you think anyone is going to give a shit about the game? Yes, one man will. Kobe is the only dude in the league who absolutely refuses to lose, and he’s going to be the only one even playing ball. I’m taking the West.
Fuck this wind. Seriously.

We are stuck in a rut. Plagued with complacency and apathy, the current Associated Students representatives, both elected and appointed, seem to be fueled by nothing more than distant opportunities and vague commitments. Already, only 15 weeks into this academic year, election fever has taken hold of the office. Positioning tactics and slating will begin to trump writing sound legislation and speaking for constituents.
The UCSB men’s tennis team finally grabbed a victory on Saturday, defeating the #69 Oregon Ducks 4-3 in a thriller on the Ducks’ home courts. It was the first win of the season for the #60 Gauchos, and Head Coach Marty Davis could not overstate its importance.
