While Jeremy Simer (“McCain Slices The Truth When It Comes to Tax Cuts,” Daily Nexus, Oct. 29) may be correct in pointing out that the farmer earning $47,000 a year will not have his taxes raised under Obama, the farmer is not so far from the truth when it comes to Obama’s intention to “spread the wealth.”

The candidates running for the Santa Barbara School Board may not be as familiar to most UCSB students as the candidates for the presidential election are, but they are real people with different views and experiences who will make a difference in the lives of the students in our community. Susan Deacon is a candidate running for the school board who knows the challenges facing the local schools and feels strongly enough about them to run for a position on the school board.
