I.V. Foot Patrol Lacks Proper Oversight
I’m a little upset… no, I’m very upset with the Isla Vista Foot Patrol. I’ve been at UCSB for five years now, and I’ve seen Isla Vista gradually change.

Despite taking on heavy subject matter – that would be racism in the Deep South during the ’60s – “The Secret Life of Bees” manages to stay lighthearted and entertaining. The film tugs at the heartstrings in all the right ways, delivering its message with a sweet sincerity that’s rarely seen from a studio film presumably with Oscar intentions (especially one adapted from a best-selling novel that’s been featured in Santa Barbara resident Oprah Winfrey’s infamous book club).

Imperfect Monotony
Until this point, Keane had never released an album in the same year as Coldplay. Maybe Perfect Symmetry is a sign that the band has finally branched out from unabashedly jocking its countrymen’s sound in a bid for popularity, but more likely, this is a sign that it has somehow managed to speed up the process of copying wholesale everything that Chris Martin’s outfit produces.

It’s strange to think that it’s been 14 years since the ’90s British pop-rock duo Oasis debuted its classic, highly praised Definitely Maybe, and it’s clear from the band’s subsequent output that the brothers Gallagher will probably never achieve the same level of creative success or inspiration that they once wowed fans with. Thus, the band’s most recent album, Dig Out Your Soul, benefits from the bar being set very low.
