The UCSB surf team held off a hard-charging rival to win the National Scholastic Surfing Association 2008 State Championship held March 7-9. The Gauchos, who entered the competition as the top-ranked team in the state, edged out 2007 national champion San Diego State 124-122 for the crown.
Disney Pixar has just released a list of upcoming films, and it has made me giddier than an iPhone geek downloading the software development kit. Really, nothing makes me happier than a quality Disney movie. I watched “Enchanted” for the first time over the weekend-Amy Adams is themost perfect real life princess ever – and I’ve been listening to Disney music all week. It would be easy to dismiss the Rolling Stones’ recent one-two punch of releases as mere attempts of an aging rock band to capitalize on its success by creating a new product out of its existing catalogue. The radical liberals in America are at it again, and this time they are blatantly attacking our troops. Across the country, it is becoming more and more clear that they do not support the troops as they often claim, but that their hatred of the war in Iraq and the Bush Administration is spilling over onto the brave veterans who voluntarily put themselves in harm’s way.
The NHL Playoffs are here! But the QB had no idea until someone mentioned it. He can’t pronounce the names of half those dudes, anyway.
When one thinks of classical dance, visions of nutcrackers and prima ballerinas in pretty, puffy pink tutus dance across the mind. Or, perhaps the image of Mikhail Baryshnikov twirling his manly yet delicate body around a stage. However, the Nrityagram Dance Ensemble’s April 3 performance of Pratima: Reflection introduced a crowded Campbell Hall to an entirely different definition of classical dance.
