SB Dominates First Weekend of League Play

With the exception of a pair of losses to UCLA, UCSB softball has been loading up in the win column these past two weeks.

Campus Pathways Concern Disabled

A new UCSB study shows that only a third of disabled students find the on-campus walkways and bike path crossings safe, and over 70 percent believe that across-campus transportation is inadequate.

The UCSB women’s basketball team gathers around the Big West Tournament trophy after the Gauchos defeated UC Davis 74-59 in the championship game on March 15 in Anaheim. After winning the program’s 12th Big West Tournament title, UCSB returned to the Big Dance for the first time since 2005, falling 85-52 to fourth-seeded Virginia.

UCSB Swings and Misses in Upset Attempt

The #14 UCSB men’s volleyball team had a roller coaster of a Spring Break, with ups and plenty of downs through the many games they played this past week. The Gauchos (9-14 overall, 6-12 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) went 2-3 over the past three weeks and enter April on a two-game losing streak.

Gauchos Shine at Nationals

UCSB proved its power in the pool at the 2008 National Collegiate Athletic Association Championship by producing five All-American swimmers. Sophomore Anne Marie May dominated at the NCAA’s, coming in 3rd in the 50 freestyle.

SB Unable to Climb Rankings as Aztecs Snap Win Streak

After winning six consecutive matches since March 8, the #64 UCSB men’s tennis team (9-5 overall) lost to #48 San Diego State (10-6 overall) 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at the Rec Cen courts. The loss was the Gauchos’ first at home. With seven more matches to play, the team already has one more victory than it had in all of last year’s 18-loss season.
