A UCSB student was mugged on Friday night by two unidentified male suspects who fled into Isla Vista after beating the victim and stealing his cell phone.

According to a campus crime alert issued by the University of California Police Department, the male victim was reportedly standing outside Manzanita Village when the two suspects attacked him from behind without prior provocation.

The assailants then forcefully struck the victim in the face and head. After knocking him to the ground, the two men proceeded to jointly deliver a series of kicks to the victim’s torso and then rob him of his mobile phone, later escaping into the nearby residential area.

According to campus police who responded to the reported robbery, the victim sustained only moderate injuries. Police reports also indicate that no weapons were used during the assault.

In response to the assault, the UCPD has launched an ongoing investigation and is currently searching for the two perpetrators. One of the suspects was described as a while male in his 20s, approximately 5’9″ and 170 lbs.
