For the #7 UCSB men’s water polo team (12-7 overall, 0-1 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation), this weekend’s Southern California Tournament in Irvine is a time of opportunity and a chance to make a major statement to other teams around the conference.
Following a press conference held by state officials at UCSB on Wednesday, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law yesterday a package of bills that will prevent the spread of invasive species into state waters and make new funds available to the university’s marine researchers.

This is in regards to Adam Wenger’s last column (“RIAA Deaf to Benefits of P2P,” Daily Nexus, Oct. 8). The UCSB cross country teams head to two different venues this weekend with hopes of continuing their recent success. The top runners for each team will make the trip to Terre Haute, Ind., to compete in Pre-Nationals, while the rest of the team will make the short trip to San Luis Obispo to run in the Cal Poly Invitational.
