I’m on Legislative Council. Before you ignore me, I want to explain some things about A.S. – the things you don’t hear about because the Daily Nexus doesn’t always cover them. Regardless of what you might think, I don’t hate the Nexus; I also don’t think they always make good decisions (like with Conquest).
The 16th Annual Monologue Festival, produced in the off-season between fall and winter productions, is probably unknown to most students outside of the drama department. Without the profile or publicity associated with the New Plays Festival, the Monologue Festival is like a neglected little brother. A mad genius little brother.
I must say that I am genuinely disgusted and appalled by the things that I have read in the opinion section of the Nexus. I advocate free speech and believe everyone has the right to an opinion, but the things I have read have been ignorant and totally misguided.
Thursday (1/25/07): Take advantage of a rare opportunity to see the works of painter, screenwriter, novelist, experimental video artist and filmmaker D.A. Metrov when the “Metrovspective” exhibit opens today at the Artamo Gallery in downtown Santa Barbara. The exhibit features paintings and experimental art videos by Metrov and more information about it is available at (805) 568-1400. The gallery is open from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, and the exhibit runs until February 4.

The people running our organizations aren’t superheroes or drama whores (well, not all of them), and aren’t necessarily smarter or more confident than any unorganized student.
