UCSB soccer player Eric Frimpong was back in jail Friday, following allegations that he sexually battered a second woman.

Frimpong was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail, for the second time in a week, after his hearing on Friday. As a result of the new claim, bail for the midfielder has been raised to $250,000, which, as of Friday, he had not posted.

Frimpong was originally booked last Saturday after being arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a UCSB female student on the beach below Isla Vista’s cliffs.

On Friday, Santa Barbara Superior Court Judge Joseph Lodge ordered Frimpong, a native of Ghana, to surrender his passport – at Deputy District Attorney Mary Barron’s insistence – because he considered Frimpong a flight risk.

Frimpong’s arraignment will take place tomorrow at the Santa Barbara courthouse.

The court will decide tomorrow whether to grant Frimpong’s attorney Robert Sanger a gag order. If Judge Lodge allows it, all involved parties will be barred from commenting to the media, even though Deputy District Attorney Barron and Sanger have already agreed to not talk to the press.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Star reports that Frimpong is no longer on the Kansas City Wizards preseason roster. Frimpong was selected in the Major League Soccer supplemental draft last month, although Wizards Director of Marketing and Communications Rob Thomson said Frimpong never signed a contract with the MLS. Frimpong attended the first two preseason training sessions with the Wizards before returning to California.
