While the race for district attorney in Santa Barbara County may be heated, there is no real debate when looking at the candidates’ issue positions and backgrounds. As an intern in the DA’s office for some time now, I see students approaching this race in one of two ways.

UCSB alumnus Todd Rogers and his partner Phil Dalhausser were two of the most talked about players this weekend, as Rogers seized his first hometown title in the men’s division yesterday in two sets over John Hyden and Jeff Nygaard. Caesar Uyesaka Stadium is home to the 35 men that make up the UCSB baseball team. Renovated in the 1990s, Caesar Uyesaka Stadium now is able to seat 1,000 fans.

The information from the U.S. media has tainted the truth about the Israel-Palestine conflict. The biggest problem in the media portrayal of the conflict is blaming one country, Palestine. Though some Palestinians have promoted the conflict and prevented any peace from happening, Israel has done the same.

After seeing photographs on the Internet of what might potentially be hazing, the university has suspended the UCSB Women’s Lacrosse team pending an investigation into the matter.

A Legend in Diapers?

These days it seems like professional sports are riddled with individual comparisons between elite players. From arguing whether Peyton Manning or Tom Brady is better under the helm at quarterback to whether Barry Bonds matches up against Hank Aaron’s staggering ability to hit the long ball, sports fans and analysts continuously search for the next clearly dominant player in their respective sport to debate about.

County Residents Should Make It Their Mission to Split

The county split process has been underway by serious citizens for the past five years. About 33,000 north County voters signed a petition to force the State of California to investigate both the high costs of Santa Barbara County governance and south County’s political influence on policies which are generally liberal, anti-business, anti-agricultural and against private property rights.

Bands, Crowds Jam at Extravaganza

Thousands of fans and revelers – some of which may have been under the influence of more than the music – flocked to Harder Stadium on Sunday, screaming and cheering for Extravaganza. Hosted by Associated Students Program Board, five bands, a variety of vendors and an estimated 7,000 spectators attended the event – approximately the same number of attendees as last year’s sunny show.
