U.S. Citizens Rightfully Support Israel

It seems that there has been a resurgence in propaganda on college campuses across California. Last week, UC Irvine hosted an anti-Israel week, “Holocaust in the Holy Land,” and this week, one of our own UCSB chemical engineering students in his article (“The U.S. Neglects Israel’s Faults,” Daily Nexus, May 22) has taken it upon himself to strike worn-out propaganda against Israel via some poor and inaccurate writing.

Column: Sac-Town Soliloquist

Five Teams To Showcase Innovations

Aspiring UCSB entrepreneurs will compete for cash prizes and merit May 26 as they present their creative business endeavors and technological inventions at the New Venture Competition finals. From new methods of diagnosing cancer to energy-saving window tinting, five groups of creative innovators have been selected from 20 teams that have been enduring preliminary evaluation since January to compete at this year’s NVC. The teams, comprised of both graduate and undergraduate students, will have 10 minutes to pitch business plans to a panel of judges, who will award a $10,000 first place prize.

By fall 2006, one UCSB entryway will have received an extreme makeover as the university plans to make improvements to the campus’ East Gate entrance. Construction will begin June 1 for a $2.3 million project to revamp the East Gate entrance where the roadway from Highway 217 meets UCSB. If the East Gate Improvement Project goes as planned, it will be completed before the beginning of the next academic school year, Associate Vice Chancellor for Campus Design and Facilities Marc Fisher said.
