While I read the article on the ABC News website titled “Chad Breaks with Sudan After Rebel Attack,” a certain idea bubbled in my head. The internal conflicts I have seen occurring in nations around the world – nations including Iraq, France, the U.S., Sri Lanka and several others – are all heavily based on interracial, interethnic, or inter-religious conflicts.
Thousands of local residents marched through downtown Santa Barbara yesterday to support the rights of immigrant laborers as part of the National Day of Action for Immigrant Rights. Protesters met at 3 p.m. in Ortega Park to kick off a two-hour march down State Street that ended with a rally in the Sunken Gardens at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse.
At the start of their match against Cal State Northridge, the Gauchos appeared to have punched their ticket to the next round. Up 3-0, UCSB was armed with the confidence of a dominant start and the knowledge that it needed only one match out of the last four to advance out of its first-round bout.
