Editor, Daily Nexus,

For a moderately slanted paper — Democrats are moderate, not left — I am not surprised that you didn’t take the opportunity on Nov. 7 to criticize Madeline Albright. I hope that most UCSB students come to realize that this woman is an aggressive destroyer of nations — even though she has a “D” next to her name.

Madeline Albright was the person who helped create the current United States foreign policy in the Balkans and the Middle East. She pushed for the use of force on the former Yugoslavia. She supported sanctions on Iraq that at one point were responsible for the death of 500,000 children. When she was interviewed by Lesley Stahl on “60 Minutes,” she said that she felt that those deaths were “worth it” in order to create a safer world.

Thanks to her decisions, 2,500 to 5,000 Serbian civilians were killed during the bombing of the densely populated capital of Belgrade. It’s a real shame that she claims that one of her biggest successes was “helping to reverse the ethnic cleansing that was occurring in Kosovo.” She did all of that while simultaneously supporting Mujahideen forces active in the former Yugoslavia and allowing NATO forces to kill innocent civilians using depleted uranium and cluster bombs. Talk about an illegal war!

So again, maybe Madeline Albright should’ve believed in her own words when she said, “Armageddon is not a foreign policy” in the 1990s. Things may have been better for all the people in the world. In addition, is somebody who asked, “What’s the point of having this superb military you’re always talking about, if we can’t use it?” Worthy of praise? Absolutely not. Shame on you, Daily Nexus!-
