The American Red Cross is asking students to help make the holidays happy for victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita this winter. UCSB students recently deployed to the Gulf Coast by the Red Cross will share their stories and encourage other students to volunteer over winter break tonight at 6 in Snidecor Hall’s Hatlen Theatre.

The Society of Success and Leadership, Sigma Alpha Lambda, has come to campus hoping to create future CEOs and Fortune 500 Companies out of UCSB students. The society, which is currently pending a name change to the National Society of Leadership and Success, has attracted nearly 900 members since its inception on Oct. 6.

Nearly 100 queers and allies came out yesterday afternoon to the National Coming Out Day rally in Storke Plaza to support each other’s identities. Speakers at the rally talked about such issues as queer identity, stereotyping and the recent debate over whether U.S. military recruiters should be allowed on campus.
