A.S. Election Endorsements: External Vice President, Statewide Affairs

Last year, Felicia Cruz told us she would take the train up to Sacramento, Calif. to save on A.S. travel expenses while representing UCSB students in statewide affairs. True to her word – and the Nexus editors are suckers for the whole integrity thing – Cruz hopped on the Amtrak three times this past year, sacrificing her time for a longer ride to stretch student fees a little further.

Finance Board Questions Leg Council Actions

After giving away the remaining $200 in its Spring quarter budget Monday afternoon, Associated Students Finance Board members debated A.S. Legislative Council’s actions last week, which many thought violated the autonomy of the board.

A.S. Fee Initiatives

In theory, the A.S. Student Lobby initiative is a great idea. You know, giving students a voice and all that jazz. A.S. Blows (in the Wind)

The walkway from HSSB to Storke Tower looks like a hurricane came through. Over the weekend, the A.S. campaign signs toppled and splintered, and the gales scattered the pieces like campaign confetti.

Baseball: Davis Demolishes Santa Barbara

If one is the loneliest number, then the UCSB baseball team must be feeling like the last person left on Earth after a nuclear winter. After posting a single run while being swept in three games at Davis this weekend, the Gauchos (16-17 overall, 1-2 in the Big West) look to have a lot of work ahead of them.

Left Lane Driver: Potential Politicians, Sign Off

Every year, during the Associated Students election, the Daily Nexus runs endorsements that trash our beloved student politicians and their earnest campaigning. It’s become something of tradition at the Nexus, sort of like the annual Nexus attempt at world domination.

Fans Endure Those With Other Views

Like most tightknit communities united by a single cause, the Michael Jackson fans camped out in Santa Maria are protective of each other and wary of outsiders. While many of those standing on the courthouse sidewalk wave pro-Jackson signs, some people have other opinions.
