Forum To Address SB Public Transit

Discussion about Santa Barbara County’s bus system will go round and round at an open forum meeting today featuring representatives from the Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District (MTD) and South Coast Transit Advisory Committee.

All’s Not Fair in War and Education

According to a resolution recently presented to the Academic Senate, 17 UCSB professors want to ban military recruiters from campus and review the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program. Their stated reason: The Defense Dept.’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy discriminates against homosexuals and violates an individual’s First Amendment right to discuss his or her sexual orientation.

Gauchos Welcome New Sponsorship

If any of UCSB’s athletes look different in competition this year, it’s probably not because teams have inserted a new starting lineup. The UCSB Athletic Dept. signed a contract with athletic apparel giant Adidas in October, threading all 19 Santa Barbara Intercollegiate Athletic programs together by stitching the same logo on its uniforms.
