The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Dept. is investigating a robbery that occurred Tuesday afternoon at the Goleta branch of Bank of America, located at 5892 Calle Real.

An unidentified man entered the branch office at approximately 4 p.m. and handed the teller a note demanding money. According to police, the teller complied and the suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. A weapon was not seen at any point during the exchange.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man 30- to 35-years-old with a beard and dark hair. He is of muscular build and has a tattoo of an Asian character on the back of his right ear. The man left the bank on foot, traveling northbound through the parking lot.

A Bank of America employee declined to comment Wednesday because the investigation is still ongoing.

Sgt. Chris Pappas said the suspect is still at large.

“We’re still looking for assistance from the public in finding the suspect pictured on our Web site,” Pappas said. “We’re strongly going forward with the investigation.”

The sheriff’s department is urging anyone with information on the robbery to call the Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-877-800-9100.
