Thursday
The Associated Students Program Board is presenting another installment of its noon concert series in Storke Plaza. Juliette and the Licks (featuring Hollywood actress Juliette Lewis) will be rockin’ out from noon to 1 p.m. If you’re a fan of rock music, want to see Lewis in person or just like free concerts, then you should definitely check this one out. Also, Alice Sebold will be appearing at Campbell Hall in conversation with David L. Ulin. Sebold’s novel The Lovely Bones has won great critical acclaim and won the hearts of millions of readers. She will be onstage with Ulin discussing her work and responding to questions. The talk begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 general, $10 students.

Friday
Pepper will be bringing its pop-rock-reggae sounds to Santa Barbara tonight when it performs at the Hub. The band is on tour in support of its new album In With the Old. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $14 for students, $15 for general admission and $16 at the door. Tickets are available now at the A.S. Ticket Office. Also tonight, Magic Lantern Films will be presenting a screening of the hit romance film “The Notebook,” which stars Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams and James Garner. The film is based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks, who also has written A Walk to Remember and Message in a Bottle. The film will be screening in I.V. Theater 1 at 7:30 and 10 p.m. Tickets are $4 at the door.

Saturday
Tonight, head to the Lobero Theatre to see the latest installment of the singer-songwriter series Sings Like Hell, where the Waifs, Jeff Black and Erin McKeown will all be performing. They’re sure to get your toes tapping and hands clapping. The show begins at 8 p.m. For tickets, call the Lobero at (805) 963-0761. Admission is $39.50 in advance. The Lobero Theatre is located at 33 E. Canon Perdido St. Or, if you’re in the mood for some cheaper raw vocal talent, you can stay in Isla Vista and see Naked Voices perform as part of this week’s I.V. Live at Embarcadero Hall. This free show offers a weekend entertainment alternative right in our own community.

Sunday
There are two shows holding their closing night this evening, so be sure to catch at least one of them before it’s too late. The first is “Matt & Ben,” a hilarious new play about the screenplay for “Good Will Hunting” mysteriously dropping from the heavens into the hands of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Don’t miss this off-Broadway surprise hit. It’s playing at the Center Stage Theater today at 2 and 5 p.m. Tickets are $18 students, $28 general. Also tonight is the Dept. of Dramatic Art’s fall dance concert, titled “Seven Stories High,” which will feature performances from students as well as faculty members. The performance will be held at the Hatlen Theatre at 2 and 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $13 for students, senior and faculty, and $17 general.

Monday
Arts & Lectures presents a screening of “Riding Giants,” the hit documentary film that looks at legendary big-wave surfers on Oahu’s North Shore and at Maverick’s near San Francisco. This film was an opening-night selection at the Sundance Film Festival and has been praised by many to be one of the best surf films ever made. There will be two screenings at Campbell Hall: one at 7:30 p.m. and the other at 10 p.m. Tickets are $5 students, $6 general. Also tonight, you can see the Better Half, Karmahitlist and My Life Story perform at Velvet Jones. The show should begin around 10 p.m. You must be 21 to enter. Tuesday/Wednesday
On Tuesday, pop-punk superstars Green Day will be performing at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center along with New Found Glory and Sugarcult in support of their new album American Idiot. Tickets range from $19.50 to $39.50. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. On Wednesday, the Jigga himself will be taking the stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Jay-Z will be along with friends to perform all the hits and get you in the mood for the Thanksgiving weekend. He’ll sure have something to be thankful for, because he’ll be raking in the profits from tickets costing $85 to $125.
