Candidates vying for the 3rd District seat on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors will meet today for a lunchtime forum.

With the March 2 election less than three weeks away, the Santa Barbara County Taxpayers Association (SBCTA) has invited John Buttny, Brooks Firestone, Slick Gardner and Steve Pappas to speak at the Andersen’s Pea Soup buffet bar in Buellton from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The luncheon costs $15 per person.

At a Jan. 27 debate at the same location, candidates questioned each other’s personal histories and voting records, and answered audience questions regarding the drive to split the county. Candidates also discussed housing, growth and community planning issues.

According to their website, the SBCTA is “a nonpartisan citizens advocacy group committed to the cause of promoting lower taxes and cost-effective government.”

The debate is co-sponsored by the Coalition of Labor, Agriculture and Business; the Buellton Chamber of Commerce; the Santa Barbara County Farm Bureau; Santa Barbara County Cattlemen’s Association; Santa Barbara County Cattlewomen; the Lompoc Chamber of Commerce; and the Solvang Chamber of Commerce.
