There are two student advocacy groups on campus representing different perspectives on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: American Students for Israel (ASI) and the Student Action Forum on the Middle East (SAFME).

Nonprofit Group Buys Local Radio Station

Santa Barbara Foundation is in the process of finalizing the purchase of KDB radio station after waiting two years for while UCSB failed to raise enough money to purchase it. The current owners are donating or selling their shares in the company to SBF along with the money to purchase remaining shares in an attempt to retain the station’s all-classical format.

Gauchos Take on Mustangs on Road

After #4 California blew out Santa Barbara on Saturday, the Gauchos bounced back to defeat Santa Clara on Sunday. The win evened UCSB’s two-game weekend road swing and ended Santa Clara’s 13-game home winning streak.

Law Review Welcomes Student Submissions

The Law and Society Dept. is accepting submissions for the second annual undergraduate Law and Society Review until Friday, Feb. 21. The review, initiated by Dept. Chair Eve Darian-Smith, is the nation’s first online publication for undergraduate law and society majors and provides students from any discipline an opportunity to get published.

A.S. Debates Terror Attacks, Fees

During the council’s public forum, UC Police Dept. Chief John MacPherson discussed possible terrorist threats to UCSB students. MacPherson said FBI Director Robert Mueller has identified universities as potential terrorist targets but said the threat was not imminent.
